Now that the weather has decide to become overcast and tenps are around 24′ it’s time to set off for Pangbourne. River seems quiet today, less traffic but it seems to be slow going. I reach Reading Marine Services and the reminder of running out of fuel hits. Lucky day indeed. Seeing one of the large ferry boats approaching, i keep right to give them plenty of room. As they pass at full speed, their wake pushes me sideways onto a sandbank! I’m stuck fast! Now the trick to removing yourself is reversing, not too much power, but sadly this didn’t work. Within 10 minutes another two ferries pass and help to push me further into shallow waters. I was quite lucky that the folks at Reading Marine Services noticed my predicament and came over to assist. With two people on the bow, we managed to get the boat of the sandbank much to my relief.
After a few hours, i’m not racing, i arrived at Pangbourne and eventually found a spot. Time for a pint and a chill! Early start tomorrow i reckon!
