Woke nice and early and made it to Tesco by 7 a.m. for a quick supply run. After the usual engine checks and a cuppa, I set off around 10 with Henley-on-Thames as the day’s goal. The weather soon turned very wet—biblical at times—but the rain was much needed. Luckily, I managed to take shelter at Wargrave just as the heavens opened. A quick lunch while it passed, and an hour later the sun was shining again. Looking at the boat afterwards, you’d never believe it had rained so hard!
Every lock was in my favour today, with a lock keeper on duty at each one—felt truly spoiled. I eventually moored up beside a farmer’s field, where he came by to collect his £13. Not a bad price for such a peaceful night. Back on the water again tomorrow.
