A good friend of mine dropped me a message saying she was having a few days off work and would love to visit my floating home. How could I resist! First visitor since living on the cut! Had a few pops in whilst moored in the marina, but Kaz was the first. Wednesday she was due, today was Monday, and I am still 15 miles from the meeting point with easy parking for her campervan in Abingdon!
Monday started with wind gusts of up to 38mph, not ideal conditions, so I decided to wait until the afternoon. Good call, less wind and the sun was shining. Ideal! Eventually moored about 1/2 mile away in sight of one of IK Brunel’s bridges. Wild mooring and, despite being close to the railway, nice and quiet!
The following morning, blind panic, a quick cleaning of the boat and a cruise to Abingdon. Kaz arrived early in the afternoon and was blown away by the boat. A quick jaunt back to the previous night’s mooring, followed by dinner. She loved the experience. We got her back to her camper around 9 and a good day was had.
The following day, I woke to the sound of someone tapping my roof at 6.30am. Yep, Kaz wanted breakfast, followed by a walk into the town for shopping.
Great visit by a lovely friend, thanks again Kaz!!
