Today’s journey brought me to a lovely spot called Pangbourne. Thankfully, the trip was smooth sailing — with a helpful tailwind pushing me along.

Fuel is becoming a bit of a concern though. Unlike the canals, where marinas and fuel boats pop up every few miles, the service points out here are few and far between. You can easily go 10 miles or more without seeing one. My last refuel was back in Abingdon, but at £1.75 per litre, I’m hoping to find somewhere cheaper along the way. For comparison, canal fuel prices usually sit between £1.00 and £1.29 — so £1.75 feels like motorway service station territory.

I moored overnight at a 24-hour spot right in the town centre and took the opportunity to catch up on a few chores. The weather’s heating up again — and yes, the arms and neck are sunburnt. Again.

Woke up the next morning to find myself covered in mosquito bites — twelve of them! FFS.

Back on the move now, and with a bit of luck, I’ll make it to Caversham today
