Being yet another hot day I had planned on leaving at 6am, Sadly my coffee was not strong enough and I drifted back off. It was lovely and cool at 5am the river was quiet and still…oh well my mistake!

Set off at 11 and one thing I have noticed is a vast improvement in the number of people enjoying the river. Paddle boarders, cruisers, other narrowboats along with children and teenagers swimming and sailing. The wildlife today has been spectacular, numerous kingfishers flying low along with the buzzards, red kites, cormorants all relaxing in the 28′ heat!

One thing that did arrive today was an email from CRT, they are the ones who manage the canal networks in the UK. This email has advised that they are treating the current low water levels as “nationally significant incident” Many of their reservoirs which supply the canals with extra water when required are currently at extremely low levels. They are now starting to put contingency plans in place for boaters which will mean closing some canals and removing the mooring restrictions that we currently have. Normally we have to move after two weeks to a new area, but this will possibly be postponed until water level to return, which to be honest i can’t see happening this year!Yippee I can moor up near some canal friends and not have to worry about moving. Thankfully it’s near local shops!!

Anyway enjoy the weekend i’ll be on the move again in the morning!
